About Project

The University of Minnesota athletic department hired Aurora to design and execute an 87 county visibility campaign to promote TCF Bank Stadium leading up to the stadium opening.  Aurora worked collaboratively with athletics, the Alumni Association, and University Relations to identify University assets, speakers, staff assets and volunteers.  We learned that the University had in storage a trailer that we outfitted with TCF Bank Stadium branding.  We partnered with University donor Dairy Queen to host at DQs around the state and to promote the trailer visits with signage.  We partnered with athletic and the University communications staff to do local media outreach ahead of each event.  We identified both University staff volunteers and VIP speakers such as then Head Coach Tim Brewster to make appearances.  We persuaded former women’s hockey coach Laura Halldorson to spearhead athletic department volunteers.  We worked with the Alumni Association to identify opportunities in counties without Dairy Queens and then recruited uber-donor Nancy Lindahl to make appearances at Rotaries and Chambers in those counties.
